新托福寫作中的「一例多用」,讓你省時省力 !

 《新TOEFL考試官方指南》的 267 頁到 281 頁上,列有「TOEFL寫作185題題庫」。這 185 題大致代表了新托福考試中寫作部分的出題思路,因而成為我們復習的重點。但是,如果要把這 185 題都寫一遍,既費時又費力。那麼,有沒有比較便捷的備考方法呢?

有! 這個方法就是我們今天所講的「一例多用」。所謂
「一例多用」,就是用一個例子,解決很多題目。這樣就做到了「融會貫通」,達到 “練習一題,解決多題” 的效果。下面向大家做個展示,用一個例子解決 20 個題目。
  1、請看第 89 題:If you could travel back in time to meet a famous person from history, what person would you like to meet? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice. 如果讓你見一位歷史名人,你會選擇誰?
  同學們的答案豐富多彩,有選擇孔子的,有選擇秦始皇的,還有選擇武則天、楊貴妃、西施、貂蟬的。其實,這個題我們選擇誰都可以,只要符合一個前提:這個人我們熟悉。因為,只有熟悉這個人,我們才能夠做到有話可說。好,我們就以孔子為例。於是,我們就寫出以下一段文字。
  Confucius was a Chinese thinker and social philosopher, whose teachings and philosophy have deeply influenced Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese and Vietnamese thought and life. His philosophy emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. These values gained prominence in China over other doctrines, such as Legalism or Taoism during the Han Dynasty. Confucius" thoughts have been developed into a system of philosophy known as Confucianism. It was introduced to Europe by the Jesuit Matteo Ricci, who was the first to Latinise the name as "Confucius." His teachings may be found in the Analects of Confucius, a collection of "brief aphoristic fragments", which was compiled many years after his death. Modern historians do not believe that any specific documents can be said to have been written by Confucius, but for nearly 2,000 years he was thought to be the editor or author of all the Five Classics such as the Classic of Rites, and the Spring and Autumn Annals。
  有了這段文字之後,我們就可以去聯繫其他的作文題目了。看一看,這個例子能不能用到別的作文題目中去,從而減少我們的寫作備考壓力,做到“一例多用”。
  2、請看第 86 題:If you could go back to some time and place in the past, when and where would you go? Why? 如果讓你回到過去的某時某地,你回去何時何地?
  我們回到春秋時期的魯國。為什麼?因為在那裏,我可以見到孔子。於是,上面這段文字,我們就可以用到文章裏面去了。
  3、請看第 91 題:If you could ask a famous person one question, what would you ask? Why? 如果讓你問名人一個問題,你會問什麼?
  首先,這個名人是誰?我們選擇孔子。問什麼問題?“能不能請你介紹一個你自己?”
  4、請看第 176 題:Holidays honor people or events. If you could create a new holiday, what person or event would it honor and how would you want people to celebrate it? 制定一個紀念日,紀念一位名人。
  我們紀念孔子。
  5、請看第 183 題:Films can tell us a lot about the country where they were made. What have you learned about a country from watching its movies? 通過看電影瞭解一個國家的什麼?
  我們通過看一部叫做《孔子》電影,瞭解了中國的偉人孔子。
  6、請看第 26 題:It has recently been announced that a new movie theater may be built in your neighborhood. Do you support or oppose this plan? Why? 在你家社區裏建一家電影院,同不同意?
  當然同意,因為可以去看一部電影,叫做《孔子》,裏面有我最喜歡的偉人孔子。
  7、請看第 79 題:Your city has decided to build a statue or monument to honor a famous person in your country. Who would you choose? 建立一座雕像來紀念一位名人,紀念誰?
  我們紀念孔子。
  8、請看第 149 題:Imagine that you have received some land to use as you wish. How would you use this land? 如果收到一塊土地,作什麼用?
  用來建立孔子的雕像。
  9、請看第 147 題:Your school has received a gift of money. What do you think is the best way for your school to spend this money? 學校收到一筆錢,作什麼用?
  用來建立孔子的雕像。
  10、請看第 141 題:If you could make one important change in a school that you attended, what change would you make? 改變學校的一個重要方面?
  我們改變學校的建築,建立一座孔子的雕像。
  11、請看第 52 題:What change would make your hometown more appealing to people your age? 改變家鄉的什麼來吸引同齡人?

  12、請看第 165 題:You have decided to give several hours of your time each month to improve the community where you live. What is one thing you will do to improve your community? Why? 做什麼事情來改善社區?

  13、請看第98題:If you were asked to send one thing representing your country to an international exhibition, what would you choose? Why? 送什麼東西去參加國際展覽?

  14、請看第 28 題:A foreign visitor has only one day to spend in your country. Where should this visitor go on that day? Why? 外國人去中國,帶他去哪里?
  帶他去看孔子的雕像。
  15、請看第 171 題:Imagine that you are preparing for a trip. You plan to be away from your home for a year. In addition to clothing and personal care items, you can take one additional thing. What would you take and why? 出門旅遊,帶一件隨身物品,帶什麼?
  看到這裏,有的同學會說:“帶孔子的雕像!”……不行,太重了。我們帶孔子畫像,帶孔子紀念章,帶《論語》。
  16、請看第 142 題:A gift (such as a camera, a soccer ball, or an animal) can contribute to a child"s development. What gift would you give to help a child develop? Why? 送給孩子什麼禮物?
  我們送孔子畫像,送孔子紀念章,送《論語》。
  17、請看第 19 題:If you could study a subject that you have never had the opportunity to study, what would you choose? 學一門沒有學過的學科。學什麼?
  我們學習歷史,通過學習歷史,學習孔子。
  18、請看第 38 題:Learning about the past has no value for those of us living in the present. Do you agree or disagree? 學習歷史對於我們今天沒有價值,同意與否?
  不同意。我們可以學習歷史,學習孔子。
  19、請看第 96 題:People have different ways of escaping the stress and difficulties of modern life. Some read; some exercise; others work in their gardens. What do you think are the best ways of reducing stress? 減壓的方法。
  我們減壓的方法是讀書,讀孔子的故事。
  20、請看第 116 題:People learn in different ways. Some people learn by doing things; other people learn by reading about things; others learn by listening to people talk about things. Which of these methods of learning is best for you? Use specific examples to support your choice。學習有不同的方式,做事情,閱讀或者聆聽別人的教誨,你更傾向哪個?
  我們閱讀,讀孔子的故事。
  當然,類似的題目還有很多,請同學們練習如下五個題目:146,4,124,1,12。
  這樣,我們通過“一例多用”,解決了 185 題裏面的近 30 個題。從而大大提高了復習托福寫作時的效率。同學們在平時做寫作練習時,也要經常這麼想一想:我以前寫過的例子和理由,能不能用到這篇文章裏面來。如果能,就痛快地把以前寫過的好句子默寫到文章裏,這樣既提高了寫作速度,又提高了文章的品質。
